Sydney Institute of Business and Technology (SIBT) is a modern and dynamic educational institution providing high quality courses in an environment which encourages students to achieve excellence in their studies.
SIBT provides courses in the area of arts, business/commerce, communication and computing to both Australian and international students. Macquarie University
Macquarie University began teaching in 1967. As an innovative and vibrant university, it has set numerous benchmarks in higher education and become a world leader in a variety of academic fields. Macquarie is in the top rank for employment of graduates and starting salaries.
The campus is located on a wooded 135-hectare site about 30 minutes drive northwest of Sydney CBD in the heart of attractive suburbs and adjacent to Australia's biggest high technology park and a huge shopping and recreational centre.
1. Automatic pathway to second year of a Macquarie University Bachelor degree.
On successful completion of your SIBT Diploma or Advanced Diploma you are guaranteed entry into the second year of a Macquarie University Bachelor degree. In fact, 97% of our Diploma and Advanced Diploma students choose to continue their Bachelor degree at Macquarie University.
2. Quality education is assured.
A quality education is your first step to a successful future. SIBT university level courses are designed and taught by Macquarie University lecturers*. All lectures are taught in a classroom environment with a maximum of 50 students. Tutorials and workshops have a maximum of 25 students. Small class sizes provide more opportunities for interaction with lecturers to help you progress quickly in your studies. *All of our Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Masters Preliminary Programs lecturers are approved by Macquarie University. Many teach the same unit in the University program.
3. First class education facilities.
Our purpose built facilities were opened in 2000 and 2002. Classrooms have the latest audio and visual teaching equipment. Every student has access to a computer in our computer laboratories, staffed with a lab demonstrator to assist with student inquiries.
4. Fast Track to your success.
Some pathway programs add an extra year to your tertiary studies. This is not so with SIBT! For example, when you study a SIBT Diploma you study exactly the same units as the first year of a Bachelor degree, so on completion you enter into second year of a Macquarie University Bachelor degree. If you are eligible for our Fast Track program you can even complete your entire Bachelor degree in less than 3 years!
5. Flexible study options and course intakes.
We have 3 intakes per year (in February, June and October) so you can choose when to start your course. We understand that our students come from all over the world with different academic and English language levels, so we provide a range of study options to suit you. For example, our Fast Track option offers intensive study for high performing students. Our Mixed Program combines English tuition with your Academic Studies.
6. Academic and welfare support.
We provide Academic and Welfare Advisers to help you succeed in your studies. Mathematics assistance, Study Skills Workshops and academic HELP tutorials are available if required. When you first arrive at SIBT you will meet your "mentor", a graduate student of SIBT who will support you through enrolment, orientation and be a point of contact throughout your first semester.
7. Study on Macquarie University's scenic, green campus.
The peaceful, green campus is unique for a Sydney university and provides the ideal location to pursue your studies. You have access to all Macquarie University campus facilities such as the library, sporting facilities, and student associations. Macquarie University also provides an accommodation service.
8. Live and study in Sydney, one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Macquarie University is located in North Ryde, one of the safest neighbourhoods in Sydney. It is 45 minutes by bus (30 minutes by car) from the Central Business District and is well served by many bus routes to surrounding suburbs including Chatswood and Epping railway stations.
Students who successfully complete the English for Academic Purposes program, and who meet the academic entry requirements, are able to gain direct entry into the course of their choice without taking the IELTS or TOEFL test.
